Synopsis

Smart Industrial Wireless Sensor Networks (IWSNs) play a vital role in the Industry 4.0 framework, whereby low-cost intelligent sensors work together to sense, act and collaborate within a challenging Industrial environment. IWSNs offer the promise of facilitating full factory automation and improving industrial monitoring and control for the sake of increased productivity, lower maintenance cost, optimized supply chain management and safer factory environment.

This special session aims at bringing together researchers working on a variety of research topics related to Industrial Wireless Sensor Networks within the context of Industry 4.0. Topics of interest include but not limited to:

  • IWSN applications for industrial monitoring and control
  • Fault-tolerant IWSN architectures and protocols
  • Resource management and access control in IWSNs
  • IWSN communication protocols and techniques
  • Energy-efficient and QoS-aware routing protocols for IWSNs
  • IWSN modeling, simulation and performance analysis
  • Energy harvesting and efficient energy management for IWSN
  • Sustainable embedded systems to meet Industry 4.0 requirements
  • Sensor Data management and data fusion
  • Node Mobility, localization, tracking and synchronization
  • Back-end data integration, mining and analytics
  • Security and privacy in IWSNs
  • Intelligent M2M communications
  • IWSN test-beds, deployment and case studies for Industry 4.0
