Synopsis

Today’s pervasive use of technology has brought many social and cultural benefits. These technologies allow disparate and heterogeneous users, computing hosts or systems to interact and communicate over large distances irrespective of geo-political borders. However, this wide scale use of technology provides many technical and social challenges. At the forefront of these is the need for a secure environment for both our systems and the public. Computer security aims to preserve a system’s confidentiality, integrity and availability through a wide range of countermeasures. Computer forensics, on the other hand, attempts to ascribe culpability or responsibility for an event or set of events. Due to the overlap in the sources of data used to great effect by both fields, they have much in common. This symposium aims to bring together researchers and academics to discuss the latest developments in these two important fields.

Topics

Topics of particular interest include (but not limited to) the followings:

  • Incident response and management systems
